Job Summary: Performs a variety of specifically assigned repairs and maintenance on equipment, small tools and yard activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Focused on maintaining, repairing and cleaning equipment, (construction, landscaping and custodial)
  • General knowledge of operational procedures for yard equipment
  • General knowledge of a variety of power tools and equipment.
  • Assists others in the performance of maintenance and custodial duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

Knowledge And Skills

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the principles of operation, maintenance and care of medium and heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of the principles of basic construction and maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles of inventory control.
  • Skill in reading, interpreting, understanding and applying relevant Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances and codes and PUSD policies and procedures.
  • Skill in operating and maintaining a variety of medium to heavy equipment, vehicles and other items used in construction and maintenance of public facilities.
  • Skill in reading and following blue prints, diagrams, designs and construction plans.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED, AND two (2) years of relevant, progressively responsible medium to heavy construction equipment operation and maintenance; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background check
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours
  • Must have at the time of application and must maintain a valid Arizona driver's license
  • May be required to obtain within six (6) months of employment and must maintain a valid Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsement as a condition of employment.
  • May be required to perform maintenance services and repairs while standing, stooping, bending, crawling, and working overhead or in trenches
  • May be exposed to dangerous machinery, potential physical harm, extreme weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, fumes, and infectious diseases.
  • May be required to lift and/or carry heavy, bulky supplies, equipment, tools, parts, and materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours
  • May be required to travel to perform work functions
