- A minimum of HS Diploma/GED from an accredited institution.
- Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License (may require CDL) with a safe driving record.
- A minimum of six (6) years of natural gas operations experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
- OQ qualified for the tasks assigned; Strong technical ability.
- Good understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
- Working knowledge of D.O.T. requirements and natural gas codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of safe gas distribution and service practices, including but not limited to: standards of pressure, dangers inherent in low/high pressures and the failure of pressure regulatory equipment.
- Computer literate and skilled in the use of a lap-top computer for work orders and training.
- Must be able to perform math functions using a calculator (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, and fractions).
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain high customer satisfaction through high systems availability, with timely and accurate data and minimum system downtime.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to individuals internal/external of TECO Peoples Gas.
- Knowledge of the geographic areas and with ability to read and interpret maps
- Valid CDL “A” License with a safe driving record is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Gas Operations Technician I OR minimum of 5 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position with utility company is required.
- Related experience consists of inspecting, maintaining and repairing natural gas CNG stations and natural gas Air Conditioning equipment ensuring proper and normal operating conditions of the fueling related equipment and structures to comply with manufacturers and Company guidelines.
- Mechanical inclined.
- Must be able to interpret diagrams and schematics.
- Familiar will all relevant municipal, state, and federal regulations applicable to natural gas CNG-AC systems.
- Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs large gate station equipment, as assigned, including regulators, control valves, heaters, filters/strainers and any other associated equipment.
- Completes accuracy testing and calibration adjustments.
- Monitors and perform all preventative maintenance as determined and scheduled during testing. Tracks maintenance schedules in the Work Management System (WMS).
- Performs on-site emergency response maintenance as needed, conducting troubleshooting and performing corrective measures as assigned.
- Completes all required calibration documentation utilizing the WMS, ensuring procedures follow accepted Engineering Principles.
- Works with company personnel in the installation of gate station regulation, control, chromatograph and odorization systems. Replaces control equipment to ensure effective integration.
- Ensure that all field facilities related to gas distribution and transmission pipelines comply with Federal, State and local electrical codes.
- Perform other operational functions as assigned.
- Maintains, inspects, troubleshoots and repairs CNG and gate station equipment including CNG trailers, compressors, heaters, CNG filling stations, regulators, control valves, heaters, filters/strainers and any other associated equipment.
- Understands the technical function and safely operates the Measurement and Regulation (M&R) CNG equipment and related accessories. Performs or manages all scheduling and preventive maintenance on M&R CNG equipment. Includes operational random and schedule inspections. General housekeeping audits and maintenance of M&R CNG stations, gate stations and CNG fueling equipment.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate inventory of CNG replacement materials and vendor source list for materials. Tracks material usage and cost to help project future budgetary needs.
- Performs on-site emergency response maintenance as needed. Trouble-shoot equipment, analyze equipment failures, determine corrective action and successfully complete repairs.
- Coordinates and oversees CNG construction and commissioning activities at M&R sites. Maintains schedules and documentation required to track projects, compliance and equipment location to meet all regulatory requirements. Relocates CNG equipment to required destinations as needed.
- Completes all required calibration, inspection and documentation utilizing company approved procedures. Reviews equipment operating procedures for safety and align with accepted Engineering Principles for proper method.
- Works with company personnel, contractors and vendors in the installation of gate station regulation, control, chromatograph, and odorization systems. Troubleshoots and replaces electronic and control equipment to insure effective integration.
- Ensures that all field facilities related to gas distribution and transmission pipelines comply with Federal, State and local electrical codes and performs other operational functions as assigned.
- Associates Degree in a related technical field is preferred and may be considered in lieu of the comparable related experience requirement.
- ASE relevant certification with certification in Alternate Fuels; NGVi CNG Fueling Station Design, Operation and Maintenance Training Certifications
- Frequent interaction with Corporate and Division Office personnel.
- Interaction outside the Company is mostly with customers, contractors, developers, other utilities, governmental agencies, vendors and members of the general public.
