Job Summary/Objective:
The Interpreter provides translation, interpretive and case management services for non-English speaking patients. Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic.
Protected Health Information Requirements/Access:

- This position will use the Treatment class of protected health information.
- Restrictions on the protected health information for this position will follow the Privacy Policies of Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc.

Essential Functions:

- Assists with scheduling.
- Provides translation services for all clinic processes.
- Facilitates inter-agency communication to promote appropriate and coordinated care.
- Serves as an advocate for the client.
- Collects data necessary for evaluation and grant reports.
- Works with managers, providers, and assigned clinic nurse to coordinate the Adjustment of Status process (Green Card) for refugees.
- Supports a service-oriented atmosphere in accordance with Peoples Community Health Clinic Mission and Philosophy.
- Follows policies and procedures.
- Works to improve work processes and clinical outcomes including health disparity and quality improvement collaboratives.
- Develops and maintains own competence.

Patient Population:
- Neonate to geriatric clients.
Work Environment/Personal Protective Equipment:
This position might be exposed to blood/body fluid exposure to hands, torso and respiratory. PPE might be required.
Physical Demands:
This position requires frequent standing and sitting (34% - 66% of shift); occasional walking (1% - 33% of shift); occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. ( 1% - 33% of shift); continuous finger dexterity and use of hands/arms for repetitive movement (67% - 100% of shift); occasional driving and reaching at, above, and below shoulder level.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Typically work hours and days are between Monday and Friday,8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and some flexibility in hours is allowed. Responsibilities occasionally may require irregular hours as deemed necessary. This may include an adjusted work schedule, long days, and early morning or late evening hours in order to meet client scheduling demands. The employee must work a minimum of 40.0 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
Certificates/Licenses:
- Successful completion of language proficiency testing with a third-party testing service for both English and the language being hired for at a “high intermediate” level.
- Successfully pass reading and/or writing testing administered by the Clinic Support Supervisor of commonly used clinic phrases with a minimum of 90% accuracy.
