Job Description

Clinical Nurse (LPN or RN)

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt 

Reports to: Clinic Supervisor


Job Summary/Objective: 

Provides primary care nursing, patient education, health care maintenance, patient counseling, and normative care services to patients at Peoples Community Health Clinic. Works with providers and administers nursing care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Assists with the planning, development and implementation of health education programs and materials, and provides assistance to and supervision of the Patient Clinical Representatives in areas of nursing beyond their scope of practice. Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic.


Protected Health Information Requirements/Access:

    This position will require the use or disclosure of protected health Information.

    This position will use the Treatment class of protected health information.

    Restrictions on the protected health information for this position will follow the Privacy Policies of Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc.

    Use or disclosure of protected health information not routinely available to this position will follow procedures assessed by or directed by management.

Essential Functions:

This RN or LPN position will be working in our Urgent Care Department assisting with patients.  Some of these essential functions could change depending on scope of practice for selected candidate.  

    Provides primary and normative care for patients.

    Provides patient education and counseling.

    Assists other care team members in coordinating patient care.

    Coordinates the referral process by initiating prior authorizations when required.

    Supports a service-oriented atmosphere in accordance with Peoples Community Health Clinic Mission and Philosophy.

    Works to improve work processes and clinical outcomes including health disparity and quality improvement collaboratives.

    Follows policies and procedures.

    Develops and maintains own competence.

    Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.

    Assists in control of Peoples Community Health Clinic resources.

Work Environment/Personal Protective Equipment:

This position operates in a clinical environment, PPE required as indicated.

Physical Demands:

This position requires occasional sitting –(1%-33% of shift); frequent standing (34% - 66% of shift; occasional walking –(1%-33% of shift); occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. (1% - 33% of shift); frequent pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs.(34%-66% of shift) and occasionally 11lbs. – 100lbs (1% - 33% of shift); frequent use of hands/arms for repetitive movement and continuous finger dexterity; occasional bending/stooping, twisting, squatting/crouching, and reaching at, below and above shoulder level (1% - 33% of shift).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Typically work hours and days are between Monday and Friday,8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with rotating Saturday coverage.  Some flexibility in hours is allowed. Responsibilities occasionally may require irregular hours as deemed necessary. This may include an adjusted work schedule, long days, and early morning or late evening hours in order to meet client scheduling demands. The employee must work a minimum of 40.0 hours each week to maintain full-time status. 

Travel:

Occasional driving might be expected for this position.

Education and Experience:

    Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

    Relevant nursing experience.

Licensure and Certificates:

  • Current Iowa LPN or RN license
  • Current BLS or CPR/First Aid certification
  • Mandatory reporter training for child and dependent adult abuse certificate
