Chemical Operator Position Overview
The Chemical Operator I role operates equipment or semiautomatic system that processes chemicals into specified products. Has the ability to operate at least 1 work cell.
Chemical Operator Job Summary:
- Pay: $17 & Up
- Shift: 2nd
- Weigh and measure quantities of solid and powdered materials for heating vessels or blending tanks; feed liquid and gaseous materials through equipment units.
- Maintain system parameters at specified temperature, pressure, and vacuum levels.
- Adjust control settings on equipment to optimize chemical reaction speeds, quality, and yields.
- Acquire knowledge of operating equipment through on-the-job training.
- Utilize scales and measuring systems accurately.
- Interact with Quality Control (QC) lab and Research & Development (R&D) teams.
- Read, complete, and maintain necessary paperwork.
- Load and offload chemicals safely and efficiently.
- Operate pumps and filters to ensure proper functioning of systems.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and submit work orders for repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with housekeeping, safety, and 6S standards.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Perform all other duties, as assigned
Chemical Operator Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in chemical processing or manufacturing environments (preferred)
- Certification to operate a forklift is required (or ability to obtain certification within 90 days).
- Certification to use respiratory equipment is required (or ability to obtain certification within 30 days) -Richmond
- Valid driver’s license required - Richmond
Chemical Operator Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong ability to work independently and manage daily tasks effectively
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics) is preferred
- Creative problem-solving skills for addressing complex challenges
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds consistently
- Basic user type understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 & Suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
