Position Title: Strategic Communication Outreach Specialist
Location: Mc Lean, VA, (occasional support at FHWA HQ, Washington, DC)
Clearance required: Unclassified. Requires USDOT badge and favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI, low risk / non-sensitive); E-Verify required
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Develop and execute comprehensive, integrated outreach strategies and promotional campaigns, managing multiple simultaneous projects tailored to diverse audiences across various media outlets.
- Lead all marketing efforts to increase magazine subscriptions and digital readership, including quarterly promotions, branding support, and coordination with authors for feature story promotion.
- Generate high-quality content, including writing, editing, and designing graphics for social media, web pages, and electronic newsletters, ensuring a cohesive professional online presence.
- Conduct in-depth market research and reader surveys; measure and evaluate campaign and social media effectiveness using advanced analytics to drive data-informed decisions.
- Provide comprehensive staffing and marketing support for tradeshows, conferences, and internal/external events, developing event-specific materials and strategies to engage attendees and increase subscriptions.
- Synthesize complex highway, surface transportation, or policy information into compelling narratives for both the general public and technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related field.
- 6-10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in strategic communications, digital marketing, and public affairs.
- Demonstrated expertise developing social media campaigns that substantially increase subscriptions or readership.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in a Federal environment and knowledge of transportation research (specifically highway/surface transportation).
Salary : $102,000 - $115,000
