Position Summary:
This outside sales position is responsible for sourcing and originating residential real estate mortgage loans from Credit Union members and non-members, with a particular focus on non-member volume, while providing extraordinary service to both clients and internal staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
Mortgage Originations
- Develops mortgage origination leads through personal networking with new prospects, current and former clients, membership in trade organizations (i.e. RI and local Boards of Realtors, RI Mortgage Bankers, etc.), and relationships with realtors, settlement agents, builders, developers, etc.
- Responds to inquiries from prospective clients regarding all types of residential mortgage and construction loans. Conducts the loan interview, presents financing options, and secures the information necessary to initiate a loan application.
- Prepares complete and accurate loan packages that conform to product eligibility requirements and provides all documentation required by Credit Union policy, procedures, underwriting guidelines, and applicable government regulations including FNMA, FHLMC, and any other applicable investor guidelines.
- Proactively maintains effective and timely communication with clients and internal staff regarding application requests, loan status, loan approvals/denials, and any other concerns.
- Ensures that Mortgage Advisor Client Service Standards are met in the performance of this role.
- Adheres to and demonstrates the behaviors of the Credit Union’s core values – Genuine, Resourceful, Earnest, Empathetic, Trustworthy, and actively works to enhance the member experience.
- Performs all duties in line with all Credit Union policies and all state and federal regulations.
National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) Registration
- Apply for and successfully maintain NMLS registration.
- Completion of all assigned trainings per regulations set forth by SAFE Act
- Completion of annual registration renewal process

- Working knowledge of Encompass mortgage LOS preferred

- 5 years in an outside sales, mortgage origination role
- National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration required

Physical Requirements:
- Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and regularly lifting of up to 10 lbs.
- Must be able to operate routine office equipment.
- Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.
- Must be able to work additional hours whenever required or requested by management.
- Must be capable of reliably working a regular schedule and timely response to client and staff needs.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to routinely perform work indoors at Credit Union locations in a climate-controlled, shared work area with moderate noise.
- Must be able to work / meet with clients away from Credit Union locations – i.e. public or client designated locations (within reason), and maintain adequate transportation.
