What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Accountant position at People Restoring Communities?
The Property Accountant is responsible for performing and reviewing all transactions related to the company’s property operations. This role includes performing and reviewing day-to-day AP, AR accounting transactions to ensure proper coding and characterization as they post to the general ledger. Further, the Property Accountant will perform month-end close procedures and bank recs. The Property Accountant will also assist the Assistant Property Controllers in performing analysis based on lender/investor requirements. Experience with Yardi is a must.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor bank accounts and record daily transactions and proactively identify discrepancies and/or missing activity
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
- Perform monthly mortgage and escrow reconciliations
- Review and reconcile security deposits and liabilities
- Daily review and approval of payables in line with the budget
- Monitor and post HAP receipts
- Review tenant ledgers and partner with the Property Management team to address necessary adjustments
- Review cash receipts activity including manual receipts, zero receipts, etc. to adjust tenant ledgers appropriately
- Record rent repayment agreements received from Property Managers or Accounts Receivable team
- Record NSF activity in Yardi
- Keep cash and accrual books accurately recorded
- Review and reconcile commercial tenant accounts
- Assist with accounts payable, including review of invoices for coding
- Support audit preparation as needed
- Prepare month-end workpapers
Qualifications:
- Degree in accounting or related field
- 3 years of Accounting experience required, exposure to residential property accounting experience strongly preferred
- Proficient with Yardi
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and strong Excel skills
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines within a monthly close cycle.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with all teams
- At least one prior year of affordable housing experience preferred
- Ability to multitask
- Resilient and tenacious with a strong attention to detail
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
