Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) – Travel Assignment | Night Shift
We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) for a 13-week travel assignment at a high-volume Level I Trauma and academic medical center. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals who thrive in fast-paced surgical environments and are experienced in all aspects of sterile processing.
Assignment Details- Position: Travel Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
- Duration: 13 Weeks
- Shift: Nights – 5x8-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 3:30 AM)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional holidays
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Assemble instrument trays for multiple surgical specialties while ensuring accuracy and compliance with preference cards.
- Operate steam sterilizers, Sterrad systems, ultrasonic cleaners, washers, and other sterilization equipment.
- Perform biological and chemical monitoring to ensure sterilization quality.
- Reprocess flexible endoscopes and perform High-Level Disinfection (HLD).
- Manage sterile storage and maintain inventory integrity.
- Utilize CensiTrac or comparable instrument tracking systems for documentation and traceability.
- Coordinate instrument availability with Operating Room teams to support surgical schedules.
- Process loaner instrumentation and specialty equipment while maintaining infection prevention standards.
- Follow AAMI, CDC, and facility infection control guidelines.

Candidates should have experience processing:
- Surgical drills
- Da Vinci robotic instrumentation
- Flexible endoscopes
- Bronchoscopes

- Enteroscopes
- Fiber optic equipment
- Ureteroscopes
- TEE probes (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of recent Sterile Processing experience (Required – No Exceptions)
- Current CRCST (HSPA/IAHCSMM) or CBSPD certification
- Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma facility
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Strong knowledge of:
- Instrument decontamination
- Sterilization processes
- Steam and Sterrad sterilization
- High-Level Disinfection (HLD)
- Instrument tray assembly
- Case cart preparation
- Sterile storage
- Aseptic technique
- CensiTrac documentation
- Experience with Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER)
- OR Liaison experience
- Experience working in large, high-volume academic medical centers
- Familiarity with Epic documentation
- First-time travelers are welcome with 3 years of relevant experience.
- One pre-approved time-off request permitted.
