Job Title: Senior Project Manager (Data Center Construction)
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Compensation Package: Up to $240K Base Bonus
Position Summary
Our client who are a leading North American General Contractor are hiring for a Senior Project Manager to lead hyperscale and enterprise data center projects throughout the Phoenix market. This role is responsible for overall project execution during the construction phase, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Senior Project Manager will oversee project teams, subcontractors, MEP coordination, client relationships, and financial performance from mobilization through commissioning and turnover. The ideal candidate brings strong mission critical construction experience, leadership capability, and the ability to manage fast-track, technically complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead large-scale mission critical/data center construction projects from mobilization through closeout.
- Manage project execution plans, staffing, logistics, sequencing, and overall delivery.
- Coordinate field operations to maintain safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance.
- Drive successful outcomes across multiple project phases and campus expansions.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary client contact during construction.
- Lead project meetings, reporting, and executive communications.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Support commissioning, energization, and operational readiness activities.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Oversee project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, cash flow, procurement, and change management.
- Lead monthly financial reporting and manage commercial risk.
- Negotiate subcontract agreements and resolve contractual issues.
Schedule & Technical Coordination
- Manage master project schedules and critical path activities.
- Coordinate procurement and installation of major mission critical equipment including generators, switchgear, UPS systems, and cooling infrastructure.
- Oversee complex MEP coordination and support commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with client technical standards and quality expectations.
Safety & Team Leadership
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure OSHA and company compliance.
- Lead QA/QC initiatives and proactive risk management.
- Mentor Project Managers, Engineers, and field leadership teams.
- Build high-performing teams focused on accountability and execution excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 10 years of commercial construction experience.
- 5 years managing mission critical/data center projects.
- Proven experience delivering projects exceeding $100M.
- Strong understanding of mission critical MEP systems, commissioning, scheduling, and cost control.
- Experience with fast-track construction delivery.
- Proficiency with Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and BIM/VDC tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering hyperscale data center projects in the Southwest region.
- Familiarity with Phoenix-area subcontractor and trade partner market.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with Tier III/Tier IV facilities and campus-style developments.
- Design-build or integrated project delivery experience.
