High School Engineering, Robotics and Math Teacher

Job Overview:
The High School Engineering, Robotics, Math, and Computer Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering effective instruction with Robotics, Engineering and Computer Science and possibly math content to students primarily in grades 9-12. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment that supports critical thinking, problem-solving, and mastery of engineering principles through CAD, robotics courses - both beginner and advanced, Advanced Placement Computer Science courses with the possibility of teaching math courses in the Math Department. This person will be the primary educator to lead the Engineering & Robotics Innovation Pathway courses with an opportunity to lead or be involved with the competitive robotics teams at the middle and high school (FRC #9443)
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Math Education, or a related field. Master’s Degree in related fields preferred.
- Possession of a teaching license in Technology/Engineering, Mathematics, or Digital Literacy/Computer Science through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education at the high school level. Candidates eligible for preliminary licensure or waiver may be considered.
- SEI Endorsement.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with data-driven instruction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check.
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Year: 184 days (school year)
Salary/Benefits: Per the negotiated PAT contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with state and district engineering, computer science and math standards.
- Teach engineering, computer science and math concepts appropriate to the grade level, including topics such as CAD, Engineering design, robotics, computer science principles algebra, geometry, statistics, and/or calculus.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student understanding regularly through quizzes, tests, projects, and formative assessments.
- Knowledge of and the ability to use various industrial grade equipment such as a lathe, CNC router, 3D printers, drill press, water jet and other power tools.
- Ability to develop, adhere to and oversee a robotics and engineering workshop/lab safety plan.
- Provide timely feedback and support to help students improve their engineering, computer science and math skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, including those with IEPs or English language learners.
- Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and communication.
- Maintain and enhance relationships with Innovation Pathway industry partners through the workforce development advisory board, higher education partnerships and MASS Hire.
- Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and curriculum planning.
