Pentecom is seeking a Director of Strategic Growth to join our team!

Please note the Director of Strategic Growth position is a full-time, fully remote

position.

The Director of Strategic Growth is responsible for driving the companys revenue expansion through disciplined capture management, business development strategy execution, and opportunity integration. This role leads the end-to-end shaping of priority pursuitsfrom early identification through proposal readinessensuring alignment across technical solutions, pricing, and execution capabilities.

The Director serves as the central integrator between business development, operations, finance, and executive leadership to position the company competitively, improve win rates, and establish scalable, repeatable growth processes. This position also supports broader market expansion, client retention, and partnership development initiatives aligned with corporate growth objectives.

This role is specifically accountable for integrating technical, operational, and financial inputs into a cohesive, competitive, and executable solution prior to proposal submission.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has formal supervisory responsibilities and direct reports within the business development function. The Director of Strategic Growth leads and manages business development staff, providing guidance, performance oversight, and professional development to ensure a high-performing team. In addition to direct supervision, the Director of Strategic Growth operates as a matrixed leader, providing strategic direction, coordination, and leadership across cross-functional teams involved in business development, capture, and proposal activities. The role influences and aligns stakeholders across operations, finance, technical functions, and executive leadership to ensure cohesive and competitive pursuit strategies.

The Director is responsible for guiding team efforts during opportunity shaping and proposal development, establishing priorities, facilitating decision-making, and ensuring accountability for deliverableswithout direct authority over personnel management, performance evaluations, or hiring decisions. The role may also provide direction for pipeline tracking and proposal coordination resources to ensure consistent execution and support of capture activities.

Duties/Responsibilities

The Director of Strategic Growth is responsible for leading the development and execution of capture strategies and business development initiatives that drive revenue growth and market expansion. This role oversees the identification, qualification, and shaping of strategic opportunities, ensuring alignment between customer needs, technical solutions, pricing, and delivery capabilities.

The Director leads the integration of functional estimates, working closely with cross-functional teamsincluding operations, finance, technical leadership, and executive managementto form a unified, competitive, and executable solution and ensure proposal readiness. The Director also engages Program Management early in pursuits to validate execution feasibility and staffing approaches, ensuring proposed solutions are realistic and aligned with delivery expectations.

Additionally, the Director provides direction and structure for pipeline tracking and proposal coordination activities, establishing discipline and consistency across the pursuit process while implementing repeatable processes for pipeline management and pursuit execution. The role also supports broader business development efforts such as client acquisition, retention, and partnership development.

Through strong leadership, strategic insight, and operational rigor, the Director ensures high-quality, competitive submissions and contributes to improved win rates and overall organizational growth.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong expertise in capture management, proposal development, and strategic growth pl nning
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute winning strategies in competitive environments
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technical, operational, and financial inputs into cohesive and executable solutions during capture and proposal development
  • Advanced financial and pricing acumen, including cost modeling and profitability analysis
  • Exceptional leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, particularly under tight timelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations
  • Ability to manage multiple complex pursuits simultaneously
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, pipeline management tools, and data analytics
  • Deep understanding of government or technical services contracting (preferred based on context)
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in business, finance, or a related field and experience (required)

Masters degree (MBA or similar) preferred

10 years of experience in business development, capture management, or strategic growth roles

Proven track record of winning complex, high-value contracts or driving significant revenue growth
