We are seeking a highly experienced technical consultant with deep expertise in power electronics, specifically in inverters and e-motor technologies used in automotive / commercial vehicle steering applications. The consultant will provide strategic and technical guidance across system architecture, power electronics, controls software development, and functional safety compliance for advanced steering systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in power electronics for steering systems, advising on inverter and motor selection, integration, and optimization
• Provide technical guidance in system architecture design for commercial vehicle steering systems
• Provide guidance on controls strategies for electric motors (e.g., PMSM, Induction, BLDC) used in steering applications
• Guide teams on system requirements and hardware-software co-development, with emphasis on systems design as well as dynamics and performance requirements
• Advice on system-level compliance with automotive functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASIL D)
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and workshops for defining system architecture alternatives
• Provide guidance on infrastructure needed for bench testing, HIL validation, and vehicle calibration and validation activities
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related discipline
• 15 years of experience in power electronics, with a focus on inverter and motor control systems
• Proven experience in steering system applications or other safety-critical automotive domains
• Strong understanding of motor control theory (FOC, torque/speed control, sensorless techniques)
• Expertise in system architecture and embedded software design for real-time control systems
• In-depth knowledge of functional safety standards and implementation practices
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) and diagnostic tools
• Experience with simulation and modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Labview, etc.)
• Experience with steering actuators and electromechanical systems
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design considerations and thermal management in power electronics
