We have an opportunity for an Operations Senior Supervisor/Cell Leader to join our Delavan, WI team. You will lead and supervise a team of hourly employees who work the 2nd shift (Monday-Friday 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM) and will be responsible for the team's overall performance while ensuring continuous talent development. This role represents a strong developmental path into larger leadership roles in the future, including Value Stream Manager.
You will:
- Create and drive strategic improvement activities across all three shifts utilizing the daily improvement Gemba process triggers and paretos.
- Coordinate with the 1st and 3rd shift leaders to ensure the most critical short-term and long-term goals are achieved in a timely fashion.
- Lead kaizen events supporting the value stream strategy deployment plan owned by the Value Stream Manager.
- Engage the employees to support root cause and countermeasures regarding safety, quality, delivery, and cost, working closely with the support departments.
- Provide daily supervision and support of employees in the respective work areas, including assignment of work, managing employee performance issues, improving productivity, and maintaining staffing levels.
- Utilize performance correction counseling to ensure fair and consistent expectations for all employees.
- Maintain a cross-training matrix and identify and provide training for employees as needed to ensure adequate skills coverage.
- Identify issues that cause schedule interruptions and work with support departments to solve problems proactively.
- Perform near-miss and accident investigations. Communicate hazards to others to prevent repeat incidents and raise the issue with maintenance or management. Complete safety cross and other reports as needed.
You should:
- Bachelor's degree or 5 years of experience leading operation teams in Manufacturing.
- Have 3 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably with Machining experience.
- Ideal candidate has a cross-functional manufacturing background (production, materials, planning, engineering, etc.)
- Led teams that have a proven track record of achieving measured objectives.
- Demonstrate an employee-first attitude focused on identifying and solving problems with your team.
- Be technically sound in lean manufacturing techniques and process improvement strategies.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite programs with an emphasis on Excel skills to analyze data.
- Previous experience with OEE and SPC knowledge preferred.
