Summary:
As a Logistics Operator at Pentagon, your main responsibilities may cover, based on need, tasks in both our Shipping and Receiving departments. You will be primarily focused on shipping parts back to customers according to specific packaging directions, and may also ensure the accountability of orders sent to the facility from customers. You will review purchase orders or packing slip information to make sure that the customer information is matched with the order received, and you will also input information into Pentagon Technology’s MIS system. The hours for the position are Monday-Friday, 6am-3:30pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes but is not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Employee is responsible for making sure supplied parts within the purchase order/packing slip are received
- Must be able to work with outside delivery vendors, understand basic shipping documentation, and work well with other members of the Logistics team
- Responsible for inventorying the parts sent from the customer. Must have good attention to detail
- Understand and follow operating procedures as assigned to the team to ensure consistent, reliable, and timely processing/packaging of parts
- Good basic computer skills required to work with MIS systems and peripheral hardware such as scanners, printers, and the like
- Understand and follow specific packaging instructions provided on a work order traveler.
- Generation of packing labels and shippers using the company MIS system.
- Scheduling pick-ups with shipping vendors, either via the internet, or telephone. Maintaining package-tracking information.
- Maintaining and filing all work order travelers with all supporting documentation.
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of assigned areas.
- Must have a High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read and comprehend internal and external documents such as work order travelers, inventory records, bill of lading and packing slip documents, logs, and general company records, as well as customer packing slips or purchase orders
- Has basic math and measurement skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Has an appreciation for timeliness, quality, and punctuality
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of assigned areas
- Forklift Certification highly desired
Physical Demands:
Must pass Company required screening tests. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand, reach with hands and arms and perform light routine office work, which includes computer workstation usage. Should be able to pick-up 50 lbs on occasional or regular basis. Will on a regular basis push or pull heavy loads (up to 750 lbs.) with basic material handling equipment.
