What are the responsibilities and job description for the supervisor-operating-tax-compliance position at Penske?
**Position Summary:**
To supervise the day-to-day operation required for the personal property, sales and use, FET, HVUT and Fuel and Mileage tax compliance process to ensure the accurate and timely filing of taxes for all entities.
**Major Responsibilities:**
Ensure Penske US, Canada and Mexico and Penske Logistics is compliant with all tax filings. These responsibilities result in an annual spend over $ 511M and 22,000 filings annually.
One hundred percent compliance personal property tax reporting for Penske and customers.
Effectively manage customer billing and resolution for HVUT.
Identify and implement critical metrics to ensure 100% compliance.
Manage and resolve notices received from the various taxing jurisdictions.
Identify property tax appeals required and work with management on negotiations.
Track trends in reporting to identify outliers within the process caused by errors in taxation.
Ensure the accurate and timely billing to the customer for all fuel and mileage taxes while working with the Compliance Manager for customer exceptions and processing
Ensure SOPs are current and properly maintained via annual review and approvals including efficiencies in process as available.
Coordinate with the audit team to provide support as required
Other projects and tasks as assigned
**Qualifications:**
Bachelor's Degree preferred in Accounting. If no degree, equivalent work experience is required.
Minimum 3 years of tax compliance experience preferred.
Minimum 1 year of management/supervisor experience preferred.
Advanced Microsoft Office products with ability to manage external software applications
Intermediate skills in compliance processing and project management
Excellent communication and people skills. Ability to develop and manage a team.
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
