**Position Summary:** Supporting Penske’s Transportation Brokerage business. The primary focus of the Financial Analyst will be controllership within the brokerage operating system and supporting financial systems of large quantities of Global brokerage transactions through the order to cash cycle with a focus on ensuring accurate revenue reporting and preventing revenue and expense leakages. Creation of the annual business plan and accurate monthly forecast explaining variances. The successful candidate will be someone who has a curious mind; actively pursues knowledge independently, is a critical thinker with a growth mindset; having a passion for the continuous improvement of complex processes. **Major Responsibilities:** -Annual business plan and monthly forecast development in collaboration with Leadership and Operations team’s input. -Creation of monthly Revenue and Expense accruals. - Methodically and quickly address financial variances during the monthly close process; submitting journal entries as necessary to improve financial accuracy. - Continuous improvement and automation of tasks and reconciliations using knowledge obtained independently through self-study or experimentation of advanced Excel or A.I. tools. - Reconciliation of brokerage operating system, customer billing and carrier payment transactions throughout the month against the general ledger to ensure accurate month end revenue recognition. - Analyze, root cause and create key control measures that identify process defects causing revenue leakage throughout the month. - Manage the reporting, validation and root cause of revenue and expense accrual drops and post charge adjustments having a goal to reduce volume and frequency. - Provide frequent visibility and follow-up during the month to functional departments on transactions that need to be addressed to prevent net revenue margin variances at month end. - Report on financial data defects impacting the expected net revenue margin in the operating system versus the general ledger. - Collaboratively work with brokerage operations, billing, and IT to facilitate the correction of defects causing revenue and expense leakages. - Recommend and implement sustainable process improvements across functional departments that improve the consistency and accuracy of net revenue reporting. - Understand upstream processes such as new customer setups and billing requirements; collaborating with the collections analyst to ensure an efficient order to cash cycle. -Act as the primary contact for problem solving and reporting needs of the Penske Logistics field finance personnel on brokerage issues. - Assist brokerage operations with understanding and developing metrics and dashboards that improve the accuracy of their forecasts and enhance financial profitability. - Ensure brokerage operations is compliant with data elements required for financial transactions. - Other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor **Qualifications:** -Bachelor's Degree in either Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics. -1-2 years’ experience in financial reporting, analysis, or data analytics. -Comfortable navigating and understanding back-office Finance IT infrastructures and Systems. - Microsoft Excel skills required and other database, automation, or business intelligence skills preferred. - Very detail oriented; able to track, organize, analyze large volumes of data over periods of time. - Highly organized and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to quickly re-prioritize demands and solve problems independently required. - Strong understanding of the importance of hands-on collaboration with cross functional departments supported by strong oral and written communication skills required. -Ability to work additional hours when needed to meet deadlines. -Minimal travel as necessary. -Willingness to work the required schedule and to complete the Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening is required. **Physical Requirements:** -The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
