Role Description
Pensacola School of Liberal Arts is seeking a full-time Teacher to join our school as we re-open our Intermediate Program (grades 7th & 8th). This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher interested in developing curriculum to revamp our existing materials or start fresh. The ideal candidate will have a passion for knowledge and understand that every child possesses intrinsic worth and dignity as a person. This existential fact demands a curriculum broad enough to allow the student experiences, through education, that behold a whole view of life and encourage in-depth factual pursuits for developing lifelong learners. We believe that quality education helps the student acquire the insights to know from whence they come—and where they are going, thus inspiring young individuals to think critically and perceive their role within the ever-evolving human experience. SoLA offers a rigorous writing emphasis program and has a shortened school day, 8 am to 1 pm, with four nine-week long units, with one core class per unit (English, History, Science, Elective) and two supporting year-round classes (Math Research & Academic Discussion Skills). The intermediate teacher would have the opportunity to explore an alternative schedule based on two semesters; Fall - Humane Letters, Spring - STEAM. While exploring candidates now, this position begins at the start of the 26-27 School Year (July 2026). There is potential for onboarding to begin earlier if interested.
Duties
- Create an engaging student centered classroom
- Establish an environment of respect and understanding
- Create and assess assignments that promote equity among diverse student populations
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards across subjects such as Math, Science, Language Arts, and History.
- Guide students through the creation of deliverables (research papers, presentations, films, etc.)
- Lead classroom management efforts to create a positive, respectful environment conducive to active participation and learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, behavior management reports, and lesson plans in compliance with school policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience working with children
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience in Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development
- Expertise in Teaching and adapting to the needs of Middle School learners
- Excellent Communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and fellow staff members
- Passion for fostering a diverse and inclusive environment
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; advanced degrees and certifications in teaching are a plus
- Experience in a liberal arts educational environment is beneficial
