Penrickton Center for Blind Children is a unique, private non-profit agency, providing five-day residential, day care, and consultation/evaluation services to blind, multi-disabled children ages one through twelve. Each program is individually designed to promote independence in all aspects of daily living. Penrickton Center utilizes its experience and expertise to teach and serve families, children and professionals through support services, education and advocacy.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director (AD), in partnership with the Executive Director, stewards Penrickton Center towards its mission. The AD is responsible for program and policy development, innovation, best practice, programming outcomes and excellence, in balance with productivity and financial sustainability. The AD serves as a central strategist, working alongside the Executive Director to identify and articulate internal and external needs and opportunities in alignment with the organizational mission, vision, values and long-term plans. This is a professional, upper management position and the AD will act, dress and perform accordingly. This role is a high-visibility position and requires strong internal and external communication skills with the highest level of fiscal responsibility, integrity, emotional intelligence, accountability, transparency, and professionalism.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide effective and inspiring leadership, as well as stewardship by actively leading all programs and services related to Penrickton Center for Blind Children’s residential, daycare, consultation and Active Learning programs.
2. Ensure all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of Penrickton Center for Blind Children.
3. Ensure that all services are in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, certifications, accreditations and licensing requirements.
4. Lead and supervise all Penrickton Center for Blind Children employees. Ensure yearly performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
5. Represent, as assigned, Penrickton Center for Blind Children to external groups, including government (licensing) and community groups.
6. Work closely with the supervisory team and lead various departments in continuous quality improvement processes throughout all program areas.
7. Work with the supervisory team to ensure the continued financial viability of programs and services through sound fiscal planning and management.
8. Maintain organizational efficiency by ensuring productivity of organization management and structure.
9. Manage the daily/weekly staffing schedule including but not limited to: coordinating time off requests, obtaining staff for unexpected absences, establishing and following filling in and forcing procedures, etc.
10. Coordination of all hiring processes including posting of positions, screening and interviewing applicants, and coordination of training schedules.
11. Create, monitor and edit the Penrickton Center employee and parent handbooks, ensuring policies are relevant, current and implemented.
12. Remain on call as scheduled. Responding to emergency and crisis management situations.
13. Participate in public relations activities with groups and individuals: coordination of fundraising events, create and provide presentations (on-line, in-person and off-site), provide tours; create and edit educational materials, etc.
14. Coordinate and monitor on-going in-service training for all childcare and professional staff.
15. Proficient use of the computer to include email, correspondence, documents, awards, acknowledgements, and data entry. Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
16. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Job Type: Full-time salaried position. Hours are Monday through Friday 9/9:30 am to 5:30/6 pm with flexibility required for special events and speaking engagements.

Qualifications:
