SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
COMMUNITY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (Approximately 27 hours per week):
Prevention duties will include:
(1) Facilitate assigned prevention activities with business, industry, schools, and other agencies in the Pennyroyal Region.
(2) Work with community coalitions in the Pennyroyal Region as assigned.
(3) Assist in meeting "deliverables" according to annual contract with Division of Behavioral Health.
(4) Educate and train parents; coordinate, facilitate, and deliver adult and youth-specific prevention programs and services (evidence based programs, skill development workshops, presentations, etc.) as assigned.
(5) Other projects as assigned by the supervisor which may include coordinating contracted services.
(6) The position requires some evening and weekend work, as well as travel to other counties.
(7) Other duties as required/assigned.
KY- Moms MATR Prevention (Approximately 13 hours per week)
This employee will provide prevention and early intervention services to pregnant and postpartum women.
The prevention specialist will:
- Provide alcohol, tobacco, and other drug education and training on the effects of substance use during pregnancy.
- Market and promote the KY-Moms MATR program.
- Facilitate and maintain appropriate communications with agencies/resources involved with the KY-Moms MATR program.
- Provide required reports and documentation as specified by the KY-Moms MATR program.
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to referral sources as needed.
- Other duties as required/assigned
The position requires some evening and weekend work, as well as travel to other counties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in human services related field. Relevant experience preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills. Must have a valid driver's license, daily use of an automobile and present proof of automobile insurance. Must pass a legally required Criminal Record Check and a Sexual Offender Registry check, and present proof of a recent (less than 1-year-old) TB skin test.
Must participate in a minimum of 10 days of prevention skills training per year.
Must pursue and obtain Certified Prevention Specialist credential within 3 years of employment.
