What are the responsibilities and job description for the Set-Up Mechanic 2nd shift position at Penny Plate, LLC?
Training on 1st shift hours for training is 7am-3pm
**$0.50/hour increase following completion of training
SUMMARY
As a Set-Up Mechanic, you will be integral to ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and equipment. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, your role involves utilizing mechanical knowledge and hand tools to set up and adjust equipment according to specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Perform Die Setting; unbolt existing tool in press using forklift, place in die rack, retrieve new die from die rack, place new die in press, bolt in place and apply proper air pressure
- Inspect press auxiliary and safety equipment (i.e. unloaders, stacker perforators, guards etc.) at time of set-up
- Perform trouble shooting involving major adjustment or any die alteration, peening or removal of die parts
- Responsible for maintaining and cleaning dies, and ensuring that all parts are functional
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly die storage area
- Ensure there are no unacceptable openings in the guards and that guards are in proper working order prior to turning the press over to production
- Uses precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment as needed in fabrication of components
- Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites
- Produces high quality products safely and hygienically as per company GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards
- Must follow machine-specific lock out tag out procedures
- Must always follow all company safety rules
NONESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for cleaning the feed roller, die area, and scrap chute area of the press after the die is removed and before the new die is installed in the machine
- Responsible for cleaning under press and leaving area around press clean of scrap and pans when setup is complete
- Will function as and perform the duties of a Press Mechanic when there are no set-ups
- Assist in other areas as requested
SAFETY
- Must follow all Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazard Assessment requirements
- Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedural requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic Mechanical skills
- Problem Solving skills
- Ability to use basic hand tools (wrench, screwdriver, etc…)
- Basic machine shop required
- Ability to operate crane
- Forklift certified
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to tolerate loud noise
