Job Summary:

The role of the Foster Care Social Worker is to advocate and provide for the physical, emotional, psychological, and social needs of children and youth in a "substitute" family setting - a foster or adoption family - until the biological family can be reunited or a permanent placement plan or adoption can be implemented.  

The Foster Care Social Worker works independently with moderate supervision to ensure that all services and supports are in place by coordinating team meetings, services, treatment plans, and visitation for each child and youth on their caseload.  Another major function of the Foster Care Social Worker is to empower children through various social service activities.  

The Foster Care Social Worker follows all Penny Lane Centers policies and procedures regarding the Heart Centered Culture, cultural sensitivity, and cultural awareness. They also support the agency mission and vision in their interaction with children, youth, families, and partner agencies.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree (M.A.) from an accredited or state approved graduate school, in Social Work or social welfare, or equivalent (such as marriage, family, and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology), or related field.  
• BA level candidates must have degree in fields indicated above or related field and must also have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in related field.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in foster care and child welfare preferred. Must be able to work independently.
• Bilingual Spanish Required (verbal and written skillset).
• Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company; have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours.

Position Status: Temporary Full-Time

Salary Range: $24.96 - $33.77 per hour

Additional $2.00 per hour bilingual Spanish differential. 

Eligible employees may request up to 5 days of Paid Time Off to study for their licensure.
