Job Summary / Basic Function

The Department of Library Services at Pennsylvania Western University is seeking qualified applicants to provide reference & research support services through individualized and group instruction, on-call reference, and embedded librarian initiatives at the Edinboro Campus.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of online database searching, electronic resources, and information retrieval systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and intercultural skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with library colleagues, teaching faculty, and campus partners in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent, patron-centered customer service in both face-to-face and remote environments.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work collaboratively in a multi-campus environment and function independently as a self-starter who takes initiative to identify opportunities to contribute to the library's overall goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter, taking initiative to identify and pursue opportunities that advance the library's broader goals.


Minimum of Education / TrainingRequired Education Summary
  • MLS / MLIS from an ALA accredited program.
  • Proficiency with standard business/office software, such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an academic library setting.
  • Experience with online Learning Management Systems such as D2L; as a student or instructor.
  • Experience providing remote reference and research support.
