Storeroom Technician

GENERAL DEFINITION

This is manual and clerical work involving the operation of the Storeroom of the House of Representatives. Assignments are performed under the supervision of the Storeroom Director in accordance with CORE established policies and procedures.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receives, un-packs, inventories, and replenishes supplies; pulls supplies from stock according to supply requisitions; delivers supplies to designated areas.
• Delivers furniture to and from offices; moves furniture within offices and makes repairs to furniture and equipment.
• Sets up and tears down tables and chairs for meetings and special events.
• Hangs clocks, pictures, bulletin boards, etc.
• General maintenance on storeroom equipment
• Operates electric floor jack, lift and small power tools
• Plans, assembles, disassembles, and repairs workstations.
• Relocate/update assets in LFS program, monitor physical inventory of all equipment and furniture, print out fixed asset tags for office equipment/furniture.
• Review and update inactive employees’ inventory in LFS.
• Answer phones, door, and emails
• Uses detergents, polishes, waxes and other products in combination with various types of custodial equipment, to clean and maintain walls, floors, carpets, furniture, kitchen appliances, restroom fixtures, and other assigned areas.
• Gathers trash from conference rooms and other work areas, replaces waste can liners as needed.
• Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures.
• Ability to identify broken or damaged furniture/equipment and make necessary repairs.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in all formats and in all types of interpersonal interactions.
• Ability to maintain the utmost discretion and confidentiality at all times.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to become proficient in all software platforms utilized by the department.
• Ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions.
• Ability to physically and mentally perform all essential job duties.
• Ability to keep inventories and stock records.
• Ability to work effectively as a team player.
• Ability to learn the potential hazards, proper use, storage, and disposal of various chemical products used in assigned buildings.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of building maintenance and new construction or renovation work.
• Knowledge of the proper care and use of tools and equipment used in building operations.
• Ability to perform within prescribed office procedures and decorum; maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, associates, legislators, and legislative staff; complete assigned tasks; and follow established procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to perform physical activity that includes moving about the work area, walking extended distances, standing, sitting, bending, reaching with hands and arms, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and smelling.
• The team member will be frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
• Lifting requirements: The team member will be required to lift, push, pull, lower and/or move up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Facility maintenance background or equivalent on the job training and experience.
