Work at Ambler’s hottest new food hall for an established independent business! Do you love local food, shopping small, and contributing to your community? Pennsylvania General Store is expanding our Ridge Hall location in Ambler and seeking a motivated, experienced retail professional to join our team as a Retail Manager. This role is ideal for a self-starter with proven retail experience who enjoys responsibility, takes initiative, and wants to make an impact on the store’s daily operations.
About the Role
The Ridge Hall location, Retail Manager, is central to store operations, merchandising, inventory, and customer experience. This position offers meaningful responsibility, opportunities to grow, and the chance to actively contribute to the success of our newest location. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively, helping to bring the Pennsylvania General Store brand to life while engaging with the local Ambler community.
This position is available full-time or part-time.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional, genuinely friendly customer service and engage with customers daily
- Process and manage inventory, including receiving, organizing, and stocking products
- Merchandise the store thoughtfully and creatively to drive sales
- Assist with purchasing
- Coordinate with PGS owner and other site team leads or managers regarding purchasing, transfers, and related tasks
- Actively sell products and develop creative strategies to introduce them to customers
- Build relationships within the local community and help attract new customers
- Support vendor demos and coordinate future pop-ups or special events
- Collect photo/video content for Ridge Hall social media and marketing use
- Maintain strong organization, problem-solving, accountability, and follow-through to achieve verifiable results and exceed sales goals
- Bake our wonderful Hope’s cookies from provided dough (training provided; not a baking position per se)
Qualifications
- Proven track record of success in retail
- Excellent customer service skills and a warm, engaging personality
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Self-starter with motivation to take ownership and responsibility
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
- Passion for shopping local, supporting small businesses, and discovering unique products
- Accountability and drive for verifiable results
Bonus: Knowledge of Pennsylvania-made products, local makers, and the Ambler community is a strong plus. Compensation
- $18–$20 per hour, based on experience
