Overview
The Information Desk Assistant will serve as the primary contact person for the Student Engagement Office and Bush Campus Center, and as a secondary contact for the Student Affairs Office. They will provide administrative support to the Student Engagement Office, and customer service to the guests of the Campus Center and the College. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, conducting sales, managing cash and inventory, assisting administrative staff with clerical and programming needs, running on-campus errands, providing phone coverage for the Student Engagement Office and as needed, the Student Affairs Office, providing on-campus directions and overall College information to customers. Student employees will be asked of their availability to work during special events, select holiday breaks, and academic breaks. This position also offers opportunities for summer hours.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Must be a current Penn College student. Required
- Must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Required
- Previous customer service experience. Preferred
- Ability to perform basic clerical functions. Required
- Ability with or aptitude to learn microcomputer functions. Required
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Required
- Ability to work in an active environment. Required
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative with limited supervision, especially important when working evening and weekend shifts. Required
- Capable of performing basic mathematical calculations and making appropriate change. Required
- Ability to complete a variety of tasks asked of them by the director, programming, and administrative staff. Required
- Ability to maintain organization, learn quickly, and be responsible. Required
- Ability to promote Student Engagement and College offerings and events. Required
- Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and needs. Required

- Process cash transactions and reports per established procedures.

- Assist the Student Engagement Office with communicating information to students, faculty/staff, and public as appropriate.
- Remain informed of events, activities, and procedural updates within the Office and the College by regularly reviewing all available communication channels and resources.
- Be knowledgeable about Campus Center room locations, the College campus, and relevant College and Office policies as they relate to students, faculty/staff, and the public.
- Demonstrate commitment to the College by assisting students, faculty/staff, and the public in a professional and supportive manner.
- Remain aware of surroundings and activities within the Campus Center, and report concerns to the supervisor, Student Engagement Office staff, or College Police as appropriate.
- Serve as a positive role model for peers.
- Support the College and its programs through words and actions and encourage student participation in Student Engagement activities and other College-sponsored events.
- Perform routine clerical tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Provide telephone coverage for the Office; direct and place calls, take messages, answer routine questions, and provide back-up phone coverage for the Student Affairs Office.
- Deliver or pick-up items from other departments across campus and assist with other on-campus errands as needed.
- Ensure the Office's and Campus Center's gates and doors are unlocked and prepared at the start of the day and properly locked and secured at the end of the day.
- Be familiar with the resources available within the Office of Student Engagement.
- Resolve routine problems using the available resources, and know the appropriate department or staff member to contact for assistance, i.e., Student Engagement staff, College Police, General Services, A/V Services, etc.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Carry out responsibilities in a positive, professional, and timely manner.
- Communicate and interact with Student Engagement professional staff on an ongoing basis to ensure all parties remain informed.
- Be knowledgeable of the College's emergency procedures and respond appropriately.
- Assist the student Engagement Assistants with preparing and distributing advertising material as needed.
- Assist the Fitness Center with desk coverage as needed.
