This person will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Culinary Arts Degree Program(s).

Qualifications
Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, an Associate degree and extensive practical experience will be considered. (Minimum)-Master’s degree in appropriate discipline. (Desired)
Experience:
-Three to Five (3-5) years on-the-job food service experience in Culinary Arts. (Minimum)-Eligibility for or possession of culinary certification as a Certified Culinary Educator by the American Culinary Federation. (Minimum)-Eligibility for or possession of culinary certification as a Certified Working Pastry Chef by the American Culinary Federation. (Minimum)-Three (3) years of teaching experience in a food-related area. (Desired)-Additional experience or education in baking and pastry arts, artisan bread making, molecular gastronomy, candy/confectionary, wine and beverage, dessert preparation and presentation, and/or other specialized area of the field. (Desired)
Abilities and Skills:
-Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment-Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including inventory management, cost control, and menu development-Thorough knowledge of Culinary Arts field and education. (Minimum)-Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form. (Minimum)-Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends-Neat and clean grooming and hygiene habits. (Minimum)-Ability to spend long periods of time walking or standing. (Minimum)-Must possess a valid driver’s license. (Minimum)
Responsibilities
-Teach full load (15 credits/20 contact hours semester) and evaluate student performance in the Culinary Arts degree program. (Essential)-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students. (Essential)-Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)-Write and update course syllabi. (Essential)-Assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)-Participate in outcomes assessment, program review and accreditation. (Essential)-Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance. (Essential)-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential)-Contribute to the betterment of the department through active department committee participation leadership and contribution in conjunction with colleagues. (Essential)-Contribute to the betterment of the College through School and College-wide committee participation and contribution. (Marginal)-Attend Department meetings as scheduled. (Essential)-Engage in program marketing and student recruitment and outreach to high schools, colleges and universities, other agencies, etc., which includes travel (may be overnight) to these locations. (Essential)-Participate in Open House and commencement according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)-Collaborate with Assistant Dean of Business & Hospitality and the school’s Dean to effectively increase program enrollment. (Essential)-Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Business & Hospitality and the school’s Dean to identify potential candidates and organize meetings for the advisory committee on Hospitality programs. (Essential)-Maintain professional currency by actively engaging with industry partners and/or in professional development activities related to the Hospitality industry and applicable instructional methodologies. (Essential)-Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with Follow-up activities. (Marginal)-Assist in coordinating experiences in the practice Dining and/or kitchen areas, as well as other areas dictated by the curriculum. (Essential)

Special Job Features:
-Candidates for teaching positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) – English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76)-Finalists must present a sample lesson.-The terms and conditions of employment for this position are subject to all the provisions of the bargaining agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.-This position is subject to a background check.-Some local travel to field experience sites may be required.
Pay Transparency
Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $59,299 – $77,142. The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.College Statement
