Water/Wastewater Engineer
Location: Newark, NJ
Compensation: $110-140k/year
Pennoni is seeking a highly motivated Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our Newark, New Jersey office. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful water and wastewater infrastructure projects while advancing your career within a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering designs, technical specifications, and construction documents for water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and treatment facilities
- Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling to evaluate and optimize system performance and capacity
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including coordination of environmental permitting requirements
- Support municipalities and utility clients with NJDEP compliance initiatives related to drinking water and wastewater regulations, reporting, and infrastructure planning
- Provide engineering services during construction, including shop drawing review, responses to RFIs, and site visits
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-quality technical solutions
- Prepare proposals/scopes of work and associated design fee estimates in support of targeting work.
- Identifying potential clients and assisting in pursuit of opportunities as required
- Serve as a client point of contact, fostering strong relationships and ensuring exceptional service delivery
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in water/wastewater engineering, including design and project coordination
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling software such as EPANET, WaterCAD, and SewerGEMS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report preparation
