At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Postdoctoal Fellow in Population and Public Health working directly with the Greaux Healthy Program.
Greaux Healthy is a new prevention and treatment initiative aimed at combatting childhood obesity by leveraging state funding to attract outside grants and create an integrated network of evidence–based obesity treatment and prevention programs for children.
The successful candidate will join the Physical Activity And Obesity Epidemiology laboratory, which has a well-funded research portfolio including projects related to the development and delivery of lifestyle interventions to improve health and foster effective weight management, assessment of lifestyle behaviors, and prospective studies of obesity and health outcomes across the lifespan. The postdoctoral fellow will participate in all aspects of clinical and population science research, including designing research studies, preparing and submitting grant applications, managing study execution, data management and analysis, and dissemination of study results.
Primary Responsibilities
This position may occasionally need to work beyond normal hours.

- Conduct research studies on the prevention and treatment of obesity and related co-morbidities in children and adolescents.
- Assist in conducting statistical analyses of population datasets.
- Prepare research grant applications and peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and abstracts in the area of physical activity and obesity in children and adolescents.
This position may occasionally need to work beyond normal hours.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in nutrition, psychology, exercise science, kinesiology, epidemiology, public heath, or related field.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary.
