Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center is seeking a post-doctoral fellow with strong interest in behavioral science, dietary assessment, and the design and delivery of mobile health interventions. The candidate will join the Ingestive Behavior, Weight Management and Health Promotion Laboratory, which has a well-funded research portfolio that primarily focusses on the development and delivery of lifestyle interventions to improve health and foster effective weight management, the assessment of ingestive behaviors, and the quantification of food intake with imaging technology. The post-doctoral fellow will participate in all aspects of clinical research, including designing research studies, preparing and submitting grant applications, managing study execution, data management and analysis, and dissemination of study results. Competitive candidates include those who wish to pursue a career in academia and who seek to develop an independent line of research, including receiving mentorship on grant preparation and seeking independent grants during the fellowship. The post-doctoral fellow will have the opportunity to participate in a range of clinical research studies, including randomized clinical trials on weight loss, time restricted eating, remotely delivered adaptive interventions, and projects that are developing and validating methods to quantify food intake and related behaviors with smartphone apps. Additional research with apps designed to assess other ingestive behaviors, such as drinking alcohol or vaping, is possible. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary. A doctoral degree in nutrition, psychology, exercise science, kinesiology, or related fields is preferred.

Pennington Biomedical Research Center is supported by three NIH Center grants, including an NIDDK-funded Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC), an NIGMS-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE), and the NIGMS-funded Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center (LA CaTS). These center grants provide unique resources to fellows and junior faculty.

- Will facilitate development, refinement, beta testing, and validity testing of smartphone apps that are intended to quantify food intake behaviors or other health behaviors.
- Will participate in additional photography-based methods to assess various food intake related behaviors, or other health behaviors, such as alcohol intake or vaping.
- Will facilitate execution and supervision of studies conducted in the laboratory and community.
- Will participate in the delivery of health promotion interventions, such as exercise training, dietary interventions, time-restricted eating, and weight loss treatment.
- Will help in the design, planning, and execution of experimental studies and clinical trials.
- Will participate in preparation and submission of grant applications, scientific articles, and professional presentations.
