What are the responsibilities and job description for the Working Architectural Millwork Shop Manager position at Penner Architectural Millwork?
HANDS-ON WORKING LEADERSHIP POSITION — NOT A DESK JOB
We are looking for a highly experienced architectural millworker/cabinetmaker who can work alongside the crew while leading the entire shop.
This position requires a true ownership mentality. You will be responsible for the crew, production, quality, scheduling, and everything that leaves the shop.
Strong Hands-On Experience Required:
- Architectural millwork and custom trim
- Custom cabinet construction
- Crown molding — cutting, fitting, and installation
- Field measuring and accurate layout
- Reading shop drawings and architectural plans
- Woodworking machinery and production
- Troubleshooting and quality control
- Leading and training employees
OWNERSHIP & ACCOUNTABILITY
If you are responsible for the crew, you are responsible for the result.
We want a leader who trains, checks, follows through, catches mistakes, solves problems, and takes ownership rather than blaming others.
You will lead from the front — working alongside the crew, maintaining quality, keeping production moving, and making sure jobs are completed correctly and on time.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires being available when production requires it, including occasional additional hours or Saturdays.
Former business owners and experienced working shop leaders are strongly encouraged to apply.
We are looking for someone who wants a long-term career and the opportunity to take ownership and help grow this operation for many years.
