Requirements
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Learn the fundamentals of LEAN manufacturing
- Apply LEAN principals to identify and reduce inefficiencies in existing manufacturing processes
- Enhance working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD as it applies to plant layout
- Utilize Microsoft Office suite of software to create process flow diagrams and presentations
- Learn how to perform a time study and apply the data to justify systematic change
- Enhance interpersonal communication skills by working directly with operations and leadership staff
- Using quantitative and qualitative data, provide specific recommendations to plant leadership on how to reduce waste and improve efficiency in existing manufacturing processes.
- Assist Continuous Improvement team with plantwide LEAN and 5-S initiatives
- Current student working towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or something similar
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software
- Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD. Ideally AutoCAD and Creo.
- Proactive self-starter with an eagerness to learn
- Strong interpersonal communication skillset
- Strong public speaking skillset
- Must be able to walk entire facility and be on their feet for at least 1-hour intervals
- Visual acuity for detailed work
