Role Description The Cost Estimator/Applications Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in one of Pennant's facilities with potential remote work for the right candidate. This position is responsible for analyzing customer designs and specifications, developing detailed cost estimates, and preparing quotations for metal stamping, roll forming, fabrication, and assembly projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and technical requirements, collaborating with engineering and production teams to define manufacturing processes, and identifying materials, labor, tooling, and overhead costs. The role involves supporting sales by providing technical applications guidance, optimizing designs for manufacturability and cost, and maintaining accurate cost models and documentation. The Cost Estimator/Applications Engineer will also monitor project performance against estimates, recommend cost improvements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Cost Management and Cost Control skills to develop, maintain, and refine accurate cost structures for manufacturing projects.
- Strong Analytical Skills and Project Estimation capabilities to interpret drawings, specifications, and production data for precise quotations.
- Budgeting experience to align project costs with customer expectations and internal financial targets.
- Background in manufacturing or industrial engineering, preferably in metal stamping, roll forming, fabrication, or related processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications.
- Proficiency with estimation tools, ERP or MRP systems, and standard office software.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with sales, engineering, and production teams.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
