Job Summary
The Opportunity Class Teacher provides specialized academic instruction and behavioral support to students in grades 7–8 who benefit from a structured, supportive learning environment designed to promote academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and positive behavioral outcomes. This unique teaching opportunity offers the ability to make a meaningful impact with a small cohort of students while building strong relationships that foster confidence, resilience, and long-term success.
The Opportunity Class maintains a small class size, allowing for individualized instruction, meaningful connections, and targeted academic and behavioral interventions. Teachers are encouraged to be innovative and creative in designing engaging lessons and learning experiences that meet students where they are and inspire growth. While instruction is aligned with California Content Standards, the teacher has the flexibility to incorporate project-based learning, hands-on activities, restorative practices, and other instructional approaches that best support student success.
This position is supported by a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) who partners with the classroom teacher to implement behavior support strategies, reinforce positive behaviors, and provide additional student support throughout the school day. The teacher also collaborates with administrators, counselors, general education teachers, families, and student support staff to help students develop the academic and behavioral skills necessary for success.
