What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Youth Soccer Coach — Ages 4–6 position at Penn Prospects Soccer Schools?
Penn Prospects Soccer Schools is looking for a technically capable, development-minded coach to help introduce young players to soccer in a positive and engaging environment.
Our programs for players ages 4–6 prioritize movement, comfort with the ball, simple decisions and a genuine enjoyment of the game. We are not looking for someone with an extensive coaching résumé. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the game clearly, connect with young children and wants to learn how player development begins.
The successful candidate will receive direct mentoring from an experienced USSF A-licensed coach and U.S. Soccer Grassroots Coach Educator.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with active, engaging soccer activities and small-sided games.
- Clearly demonstrating dribbling, passing, receiving and fundamental movement.
- Encouraging young players with patience, enthusiasm and positive communication.
- Helping sessions remain organized while maximizing player movement and time with the ball.
- Communicating professionally with parents and other staff.
- Applying feedback and taking an active role in personal coaching development.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a competitive playing background at club, varsity, collegiate or a comparable level.
- Can actively and clearly demonstrate essential soccer techniques.
- Enjoys working with young children and can hold their attention positively.
- Is reliable, punctual and responsive by text and email.
- Has reliable transportation to local field locations.
- Is receptive to mentoring and eager to improve.
A formal coaching license is not required, but preferred to have at least the US Soccer Grassroots Licenses or willing to gain one in the near future.
Employment is contingent upon completion and satisfactory review of all required Pennsylvania employment clearances. SafeSport and CDC Heads Up concussion training must also be completed before beginning. We will guide the selected candidate through the process.
This is initially a fall seasonal position, with the possibility of additional winter and spring hours based on performance, reliability and program needs.
