Summary:
- The Central Sterile Technician supports the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) by ensuring the timely preparation, distribution, and management of surgical supplies and instruments. This role is responsible for picking supplies and instruments for surgical cases, delivering case carts, and returning unused items following procedures. The technician assists with maintaining proper inventory levels by monitoring supplies, preparing ordering sheets, placing supply orders, and restocking items upon delivery.Additional responsibilities include emptying and organizing equipment such as cart washers and instrument washers, managing the return of instrument trays, and receiving and coordinating incoming external trays, including vendor trays. The technician also breaks down delivery boxes and maintains cleanliness and organization within SPD work areas to support efficient workflow and compliance with hospital standards.
Responsibilities:
- Pick surgical supplies and instruments for scheduled cases and return unused items after procedures.
- Prepare and deliver case carts to the appropriate clinical areas.
- Empty and organize equipment including the cart washer and instrument washer.
- Maintain organization of instrument trays and manage the return of trays from clinical areas or processing areas.
- Receive, log, and manage incoming external instrument trays, including vendor trays.
- Monitor inventory levels for SPD supplies and assist with creating and maintaining ordering sheets.
- Order necessary supplies and restock inventory as deliveries arrive.
- Break down delivery boxes and properly store incoming materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout SPD work areas in accordance with hospital standards.
- Assist in maintaining workflow efficiency within the department to support surgical services.
Education or Equivalent Experience:

Salary Range:
$18.11 - $28.86/Hourly
