Summary:

• Maintain a safe, secure environment for Patients, Visitors, Associates, Volunteers and Medical Staff; to enhance communication and provide immediate response to facility needs.
  
  

Responsibilities:

• 1. Immediate response to calls, especially Assists and Crisis Intervention situations. Possess and utilize professional and interpersonal communication skills. Monitor facilities by means of electronic surveillance from the CMS. Monitor crisis patients in the Emergency Department as needed. Consistent communication with Telecommunications and immediate response to Operator requests; appropriate use of radio code system. Relieve Telecommunications Operator as needed. Violence intervention and de-escalation skills. Secure and unlock all doors on Security lock down list; respond and reset immediately to alarm notification. Theft prevention. Respond to helicopter landings; traffic control and coordination of air medical arrivals and departures. 2. Working knowledge of Administrative/Security Dept. Policies & Procedures and ability to problem solve using P&P’s for appropriate outcome. Uphold the SERVICE mission and values statement of Doylestown Health Support team interaction, coordination through good communication with partner, fellow Security Officers and Associates. Implementation and enforcement of Administrative and departmental procedures for ensuring that all required persons are appropriately displaying their identification badge or visitor's sticker. Development, revision, and implementation of hospital-wide and departmental policy & procedures; coordination with Infection Prevention, Safety and Disaster Planning Manuals. 3. Investigation of security related incidents with detailed Incident Report documentation. This requires the ability to write an Incident Report that contains correct spelling, grammar and sentence structure. This also requires verbal skills to communicate effectively. Foot patrol surveillance of interior and exterior of the facility. Patrol parking lots and enforce Hospital Parking Policies. Life Safety checks while noting violations and making report. Has a working knowledge of fire alarm system. Safe containment of patient’s valuables and hospital cash boxes. Access control of sensitive areas. Coordination of security measures for special hospital events. 4. Use discretion and good judgment under pressure and in emergencies. Maintain and respect Patient and Associate confidentiality. Working relationship with local law enforcement 5. Assist in coordinating First Response Team during emergencies, fire, evacuation, decontamination. Takes active role in drills. Fire prevention and safety Maintain certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention and some level of Hazardous Materials training. For those security officers with specific level of certification to contain and clean chemical spills using specialized kits.
