Summary:

• Responsible for the movement of patients within the Hospital according to policies and procedures in an efficient and safe manner through the use of appropriate transport vehicles and elevators.
  
  

Responsibilities:

• 1. Transport patients and visitors as assigned by the Transport Coordinator. a. Transporter is responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destinations. b. Maintain confidentiality according to the Doylestown Hospital HIPPA compliance policies. c. Understands and follows hospital and departmental policies, procedures and practices. d. Keeps informed of changes and new developments that concern safe patient transport and conveys these to the Patient Transport Manager. e. Ensure all equipment used for transporting patients (stretchers, wheelchairs) is cleaned properly and in good working order. f. Transport patients including those over 300lbs, forensic patients, Droplet/Airborne, Enhanced precaution patients and other duties as determined by hospital need. 2. Display excellent customer service skills with patients, visitors, volunteers and staff. a. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact and communicate with patients and staff in a courteous and professional manner. b. Ability to follow directions with a positive attitude. Exhibits excellent verbal and listening skills. c. Refers unusual requests, complaints or information relative to delays in service to the patient transport manager for advice, clarification and/or decisions. d. Uses hospital issued phone to maintain good communication, patient safety, and timely transports. e. Understands operation and safety issues with equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, and oxygen. f. Report any repairs needed on the equipment to the Patient Transport Manager. 3. Ability to work well with volunteers of all ages. a. Maintain positive and appropriate conversation and environment to assure that Volunteers feel appreciated and valued. b. Show an understanding of paid staff duties versus volunteer duties. c. Refer any issues involving volunteers to the Patient Transport Manager for resolutions. d. Show an understanding of the value of volunteers to Doylestown Health.
