Summary:
- To complete an accurate patient registration for Emergency department services
- 1. Accurately identify the patient and select the patient’s medical record2. Complete an accurate registration at the time of service, verifying all data fields with patient a. Identify patient using 2 identifiers (name and DOB). b. Select correct patient medical record and complete patient pre registration c. Conduct patient interview at the bedside and enter all required demographic and insurance information accurately, including patient contact information and insurance coverage. d. Monitor work que and correct unresolved account errors within prescribed timeframe. Maintain RQA quality score at or above established standard for the department e. Maintain knowledge of EMTALA and other applicable regulatory requirements and guidelines f. Obtain patient signature or e signature of patient/ representative on all required forms. 3. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits at the time of service using automated resources and document accurately. a. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using available resources and automated online tools provided according to departmental protocols b. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of insurance plans and requirements c. Complete Medicare Secondary Payer questions as required and according to dept protocols d. Identify need for financial counseling and refer patients to appropriate resource. e. Identify and collect emergency care co-payment. Meet or exceed monthly departmental collection goals. 4. Identify and collect patient’s copayment for Emergency services as applicable 5. Complete all required forms and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance Complete an accurate outpatient registration during off hours for Outpatient Testing
Education or Equivalent Experience:
