LOCATION: Lancaster General Health in Lancaster, PA
SCHEDULE: Full time (36 hours per week), Monday - Friday between 7:30am-4:30pm, no weekends, no holidays, on-call rotation will be required in the future.
Position Summary
The MR Lead MRSO Technologist will help streamline all safety policies and procedures to ensure patients have a safe and efficient MRI experience. Will ensure HUP is up to date on the most recent safety guidelines set forth by the ACR. Will attend meetings that pertain to any MR safety relate topics and issues. Provide patients with a streamlined process of vetting and screening their implants. Assist ordering doctors in the implant screening process in order to provide their patients with well-organized care in the MRI department.

Assist ordering doctors in the implant screening process in order to provide their patients with well-organized care in the MRI department.
Essential Functions
- The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:
- Clear all pacemaker and ICD patient to determine if MRI conditional
- Will contact the reps or manufacturers to determine eligibility
- Will review all cardiac device forms prior to patient being scheduled
- Will work closely with EP to maintain a streamlined process and safe practice for all cardiac device patients.
- Will closely monitor and track all cardiac device patients being scheduled.
- Clear all stimulators to determine if MRI conditional
- Will contact reps or manufacturers to determine eligibility
- Will determine what MR scanners meet the requirements of the manufacturer
- Will build MR protocols to meet manufacturers requirements
- Will test MR protocols to ensure they meet manufacturers SAR limitations
- Will closely monitor and track all stimulator patients being scheduled
- Educate staff and maintain competencies for scanning active devices
- Will clear all cochlear implant to determine if conditions from manufacturer can be met
- Will clear all medication pumps and confirm warnings placed by manufacturers with managing physicians
- Assist staff in any clearance for implants
- Will work closely with MR modality chief and other attending radiologists to determine safe practices
- Will work with device vendors to ensure the most up to date practices are being followed
- Run the quarterly MR safety meeting with all UPHS sites to ensure continuity across UPHS.
- Manage all existing safety policies and will write any new safety policies pertaining to MRI
- Will ensure that proper policies and procedures for day-to-day MRI safety are enforced by ensuring that appropriate measures for minimizing risks to health that arise from the use of or exposure to the MR equipment are implemented and monitored.
- Providing and/or ensuring the provision of MR safety education and training in cooperation with, and as per the policies of the MR modality chief.
- Consulting the MR modality chief when further advice is required regarding MR safety and implants.
- Providing safety advice regarding the selection, procurement, and installation of MR-related equipment (in consultation with the MR modality chief, if/as needed).
- Maintaining regular contact with other relevant groups or committees responsible for the safety and welfare of personnel on site.
- Will stay up to date on the most recent ACR guidelines for MR safety and will continue to adjust and change current policies and procedures to ensure compliancy.
- Assist the radiologist’s in MR safety related concerns
- Reviews any safety changes or updates at the monthly MRI meetings
- Responsible for reporting any MR safety accidents directly to the FDA via Medwatch
- Assist the MR manager with any safety tasks or concerns
- Assist the assistant director of quality and safety with any MR safety concerns
- Maintain the MR safety website for staff technologists and radiologist to access
- ARRT ARRT(MR)
- Two years of MR experience
- MRSO certified through American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety
- BLS/CPR
