- PURPOSE OF JOB :
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, facilitates and evaluates orientation and educational programs for the Emergency Department that assure compliance with Emergency Department/hospital standards and the Nurse Practice Act. Communicates in a variety of settings to support nursing Associates, patients, physicians, family members, and other members of the healthcare team in achieving excellence in patient care based on evidence-based principles.
- Promotes patient safety through adherence to protocols, policies, procedures, evidence-based guidelines and Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals. Promotes department specific quality improvements, and compliance with regulatory bodies and patient safety programs to include: Joint Commission, Department of Health, Leapfrog Safety Initiatives, Core Measures, Press Ganey results, identifies patient safety issues and develops action plans to address these issues.
- Maintains clinical nursing proficiency, knowledge and competency according to unit-specific standards. Utilizes expert knowledge of the nursing process and nursing care principles to ensure comprehensive and quality care of patients throughout the hospital, giving consideration to age-specific criteria and cultural differences in evaluating patient needs across the continuum of clinical care areas
- Actively participates and supports departmental and organizational quality initiatives and goals. Coordinates, implements and participates in special projects that impact nursing Associates and community organizations. Utilizes analytical and managerial skills to effectively coordinate patient care, evaluate unit operations, and implement all emergency operations as they relate to the unit in coordination with the Director.
- Associate Retention : As a member of Doylestown Health's leadership team, this position will act with integrity and emotional intelligence. VI . QUALIFICATIONS :
- RN License, BSN required, CEN preferred , MSN preferred
- Experience: Minimum five years Clinical Emergency Nurse experience. Two years educational experience preferred. Two years nursing leadership experience preferred.
