Cardiopulmonary Therapist II - Cardiac Rehab - Full-Time - Days

Job Description

• PURPOSE OF JOB :
  
  

To provide professional cardiac rehabilitation (CR) care in accordance with American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, American College of Sports Medicine, American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology, to collaborate with the physician's medical plan, and to execute the objectives and the policies of the hospital.

• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Performs first initial assessment called the orientation appointment, and thereafter re-assesses, plans, implements, documents, coordinates, and manages patient care according to department and hospital standards and giving consideration to
  
  

age-specific accommodations. Maintains individualized treatment plan (ITP) reports (30 day re-assessments and discharge ITP).

• Communicates and collaborates with patients, physicians, family members and
  
  

other health care disciplines in order to achieve excellence in patient care during hospitalization.

• Promotes patient safety through adherence to protocols, policies, procedures, evidence-based guidelines and Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.

• Actively participates in and supports departmental and organizational quality initiatives and goals.
• Maintains clinical competency according to unit-specific standards.
  
  

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Education:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Master Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field with Exercise Specialist Certification or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Bachelor degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology with three years of clinical experience and exercise specialist certification accepted if all criteria met prior to 6/1/15.
• If RN, Current licensure in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of State Bureau of Occupational and Professional Affairs and successful completion of appropriate continuing education specific to job requirements
• Experience: Completed internship necessary for rotation or has appropriate
  
  

previous clinical experience.

C. Required Education/Certifications

• Certified in B.L.S.
• Certified in A.C.L.S.
• Exercise Physiologist must have either:
• Exercise Specialist Certification
• Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification
• Nursing
• Must maintain their nursing license
• Other Skills:
• Nursing: consider certifications i.e. Exercise Specialist, Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist or ANCC Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse preferred.
