Quality Control Supervisor

Penn Manufacturing Industries, Inc.
Montgomeryville, PA Full Time
POSTED ON 9/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/22/2027

Penn Manufacturing Industries, Inc. (“PMI” ) is an AS9100-certified precision CNC manufacturer based in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania, serving the most demanding customers in semiconductor, aerospace, and other high-tolerance industrial sectors . With 200 employees in Pennsylvania and over 1,500 employees in global facilities, we are large enough that your work matters and small enough that your work is seen.

Our shop runs on very tight tolerances (<.0003”) and a culture where doing it right the first time is the standard, not the goal. Every part we ship has someone's name on it, and quality is how we keep that promise.

About the Role

The Quality Control Supervisor is one of the most visible and consequential leadership roles at PMI. This person is responsible for our quality inspection team end-to-end — from first article inspection through final shipment, from supplier PPAPs through customer corrective actions, from gage calibration through internal audits. You will lead our quality control department, partner daily with engineering, production, and program managers.

We are looking for a hands-on leader, not a desk manager. The right person walks the floor, knows the difference between a callout and a basic dimension, can read a complex part prints without a tutorial, and gets energized — not overwhelmed — when a customer escalation hits the inbox.

What You'll Do

  • This is a working quality control supervisor role and you will be expected to perform hands inspection on critical components, design inspection methods and inspection fixtures, write or edit CMM programs, and guide your inspection team
  • Lead, develop, and manage the quality department, including inspectors, quality technicians, and quality engineers
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations using structured tools (5 Why, fishbone, 8D, FMEA) and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to verifiable closure
  • Manage the calibration program for all gages, fixtures, and measurement equipment; maintain calibration records and ensure measurement system integrity
  • Oversee inspection systems including first article inspection (AS9102), in-process inspection, final inspection, and documentation packages
  • Review customer prints, specifications, and contractual flow-down requirements; ensure quality plans are correctly built before production releases
  • Partner with engineering, production, and maintenance on new part introduction, process qualification, and manufacturing readiness reviews
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, rework reduction, first-pass yield, and on-time quality performance
  • Define, track, and report quality KPIs including PPM, COPQ, first-pass yield, customer scorecard performance, and audit findings trending
  • Develop and deliver quality training for new hires and existing employees on inspection methods

Required Qualifications

  • ASQ certification
  • 10 years of progressive quality experience in a CNC precision machining manufacturing environment
  • 5 years in a quality leadership role managing direct reports (inspectors, QEs, or QA technicians)
  • Strong proficiency with designing from scratch mechanical inspection methods using bench inspection tool such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, optical comparators, and surface plate work, custom inspection fixtures, etc
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Very strong working proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) — able to evaluate true position, profile, runout, datum structures, and feature control frames without assistance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold a team accountable in a fast-paced shop environment
  • Strong structured problem-solving skills (5 Why, 8D, fishbone, FMEA)
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • CMM programming and operation experience (PC-DMIS preferred)
  • Supplier quality engineering experience, including supplier audits and PPAP review
