THE TRAUMA REGISTRAR is responsible to maintain efficient operation of the trauma patient registry. The Registrar ensures consistency and quality in the trauma patient data collection system while maintaining compliance with the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation requests for data.

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited record technician program or Associate's Degree in Healthcare Related field
- Must have evidence of continuing education related to the trauma registry (which includes 8 hours annually or 24 hours over 3 years)
- 2-3 years experience of coding and/or abstracting
- Demonstrate knowlede of medical record content, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
- Prior experience with ICD-10 coding
- Completion of Trauma Registrar Course and Association of the Advancement of Automobile Medical Injury Scaling Course within 1 year of hire
- Within 6 months of hire the registrar will complete and ICD Course with refresher course every 5 years (as evidenced by certificate)
- Abbreviated Injury Scoring (AIS) preferred
- Demonstrate experience in computer data entry, databases and data retrieval preferred
