What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Field Applications Engineer position at Penn Engineering?
Independently utilize engineering principles, training and knowledge in the execution of duties with emphasis on mechanical problem solving. Coordinate long term data driven projects as the “voice of the customer” for assigned accounts with our PEM, Atlas, and S.I. products. Produce new fastener applications and adoptions. Maintain a high level of technical competency in all areas relating to designing special products that meet the needs of our customers, which may include metal forming and cutting, plastic molding and assembly. Utilize computer literacy for quoting, CAD, and Pro E system tools. Maintain a high level of awareness in Manufacturing, Quality, NPD, Sales and Marketing disciplines relating to new customer applications. Make recommendations to direct supervisor to improve product design, product manufacturability, quoting process and productivity. Coordinate and work with the following: Sales / Marketing personnel; Application and other Field Sales Application Engineers; Regional and Territory Managers; Direct Customers; Reps and Distributors; Technical Support; Process/Manufacturing Engineering; New Product Development; Manufacturing; Engineering Department; Quality. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following internal activities: Special quotations; Product/Technical Presentation; Review designs with Engineering and Manufacturing for approval/suggestions; Pro E drawings; Coordinate application testing/specs with PennEngineering and the customer, representative, or distributor; Product design. Function as engineering escalation for less senior team members. Support engineering level trainings for new onboarded team members around design of fastening solutions. Support in mentorship and guidance of team members and existing team members within the same supporting region. Remote work option of up to 25%.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field plus 5 years of Engineering design experience, 5 years of experience using Creo or ProE 3D modeling software; 5 years of experience working and coordinating Engineering activities within a Sales/Marketing environment. 50% domestic travel required and 10% international travel. Salary $198,702 per year
