PennEngineering is seeking a motivated, excited, individual to be a part of our Manufacturing Team.  As the Cold Forming C Operator at PennEngineering, you’ll collaborate with teams that do truly amazing things. The cold forming C operator is an entry-level position with no prior cold forming experience required.  The operator will learn to set up and operate cold forming machines that forge parts from wire stock while beginning the cold forming training program towards completion of C1 to C4.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Begins the cold forming training program with no prior cold forming experience required, learning machine operation on the job and progressing toward the level of Cold Forming Operator C levels C1 to C4.
• Under close supervision, safely operates a minimum of one cold forming machine.
• Receives close supervision from team leader and works from set up sheets, detailed machine parts drawings, machine manuals, specifications, tool charts and instruction using micrometers and hand tools.
• Observes and monitors the automatic operation of cold forming machines.
• Learns cold forming fundamentals, including upsetting, backward and forward extrusion and piercing, through on the job training and instruction.
• Inspects and gauges completed parts from every pan to verify correct dimensions and profile against drawing specifications and notifies team leader if parts are outside of drawing tolerances. May make the necessary adjustment to machine as necessary to produce good quality parts.
• Learns to troubleshoot, remove, repair and replace machine tooling to produce quality product as the operator’s training program progresses.
• Completes paperwork and statistical process control (SPC) charts as necessary.
• Detects and reports parts that are out of specification, along with faulty machine operation, defective material and equipment and drawing discrepancies, to leadership.
• Tags containers to ensure product traceability.
• Verifies correct raw material is being utilized to produce product.
• Find and follow department procedures on computer.
• Segregate, document and control non-conforming product.
• Performs routine machine maintenance, including adding oil, and maintaining cleanliness of the work area.
• Completes time, production and quality reports as necessary.
• Logs on and off time and attendance system properly.
• Collaborates with operators from other shifts to transmit and exchange information pertinent to the current work.
• Move product, scrap and slugs as needed to proper area.
• Keeps work area organized and clean at all times.
• Verifies all gages are calibrated prior to use.
• Participates in daily stretching activities, team meetings and works well with team members.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement activities to assist team in meeting goals including Dynamite Idea program, reporting near misses and 6S.
• Observes all safety regulations in all duties.
• Performs other tasks as required.
