Summer Intern Role: Development Department
The PJCC is eager to host a JFCS Youth First Intern in the Development Department this summer. The intern will be an integral member of the fundraising team, supporting projects that help the PJCC collect, organize, and share compelling stories of impact for use in Development communications and fundraising campaigns.
Projects may include:
Collect stories of impact from program participants
- Help identify and collect stories from PJCC program participants that demonstrate the organization’s impact on individuals, families, and the broader community.
- Focus areas may include Center for Healthy Longevity, Pink Power at PJCC breast cancer recovery program, Y.E.S. (Youth to Elders Support) financial assistance fund, and other programs that reflect the PJCC’s mission and community benefit.
- Interview program participants and/or staff, as appropriate, to gather personal stories, quotes, outcomes, and examples of impact.
- Collate testimonials and write short story summaries or participant profiles for Development team review and future use.
Create a strategy for using impact stories in Development fundraising campaigns
- Support the Development team in creating a strategy for how compelling participant stories can strengthen fundraising campaigns for the PJCC’s Center for Healthy Longevity.
- Help organize stories by theme, audience, program area, and potential fundraising use.
- Suggest ways to connect participant experiences with donor impact, campaign messaging, stewardship, and appeals.
- Research examples from other nonprofit organizations that effectively use storytelling to support fundraising.
Outline a social media strategy for Development storytelling
- Help outline a social media strategy to share impact stories, donor impact, and program highlights in coordination with Marketing and Development.
- Identify opportunities to repurpose participant stories across social media, email, donor communications, campaign materials, and the Impact Report.
- Draft sample social media concepts, content themes, or post ideas that highlight programs such as Pink Power at the PJCC, financial assistance, and the Center for Healthy Longevity.
- Ensure recommendations align with PJCC voice, participant dignity, privacy considerations, and fundraising goals.
Other projects
Support additional Development projects based on the intern’s skillsets, interests, and the needs of the Development Team.
