The Health Information Technician is responsible for all Request of Information (ROI) and Personal Health Information (PHI) requests and documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sort documents, verify patient identification, and organize all incoming documents for scanning into patient medical records
  • Maintain, file, search and organize existing paper and electronic medical records according to the WAC Codes
  • With high accuracy and attention to detail, assign document types and complete within the allotment of applicable time
  • Work cooperatively and professionally with staff and outside facilities and/or resources
  • Accurately complete current data entry including, but not limited to, diagnostic results, consults, and other documents identified for data entry within the established time frame
  • Participate in activities to deliver quality patient care in times of unconventional continuity of operations
  • Familiar with using electronic health record (Ex. Athena and NextGen)
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct reports.

Compensation: $17.40 - $22.04*

  • Taking into account education and experience related to the position.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of experience with medical terminology (preferred)
  • One (1) year of customer service experience (preferred)

Work Environment and Physical Demands

With multiple locations and settings, PCHS’ work environment and physical demands vary greatly depending on the employee’s role. Essential job functions include the following: The employee is required to talk, hear, see, smell, sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to move around the facility; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employees may be exposed to mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
