What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Representative I or II position at Peninsula Community Federal Credit Union?

Primary Purpose of Job: Serves as a Credit Union representative to the membership and public by accurately and efficiently performing basic teller transactions, and effectively cross-sells products and services in a professional and courteous manner consistent with PCFCU’s Service Expectations.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

- Meets individual sales goals in order to support the achievement of overall CU goals.
- Participates in and supports CU sales and service culture by pursuing CU product and services sales opportunities through follow-up calls, referrals, and other methods, with acceptable results, according to sales expectations.
- Listens carefully to assess needs and identifies opportunities to offer appropriate product and service solutions.
- Asks for the business by actively using effective closing techniques.
- Demonstrates quality of work that meets expected standards in regards to neatness, errors, accuracy and completeness
- Performs job responsibilities in the expected time frame, output of work, and productive use of time.
- Demonstrates and maintains an up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, such as BSA, OFAC, CIP, and internal policies and procedures.
- Works independently and maintains control/oversight of all assigned tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Takes action without being told, seeks out new assignments, task and additional duties. Takes responsibility, initiative and ownership.
- Demonstrates sound and appropriate decision-making processes.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities desired:
- Ability to count, disburse, accept, record, and balance cash and negotiable items.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
- Experience in sales, cash handling, and customer/member service.
- Good math and business aptitude.
- Experience with computers, 10-key, and general office equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demand and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand for long periods of time. Occasional sitting. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; use a standard computer keyboard and ten-key with repetitive wrist and hand motion; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, or kneel; talk and hear. Ability to open large file drawers and be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level is usually minimal. Office working environment. Potential exposure to armed robbery.

Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
Travel:
Limited travel may be required for this position between PCU locations for business related meetings and training. Use of company vehicle is encouraged when available.
