A Construction Technician is needed to perform a variety of overhead / underground construction duties for Blue Ridge Communications.
Responsibilities Include
- Placing hardline cables
- Frame and strand poles
- Lash /Overlash cable
- Transfer facilities between poles
- Place cable in joint trenches
- Digging trenches
- Climbing Poles and Ladders
- Maintenance and upgrades
- Other duties as assigned
- H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.
- Established residency in Pennsylvania
- Valid Driver’s License and good driving record
- Aerial Construction Experience
- Solid background in Electronics
- Knowledge of all hardware, cable types and related equipment
- Ability to complete pole transfers
- Ability to construct strand / cable
- Ability to overlash fiber onto existing plant
- Ability to read and interpret system design prints
- Ability to climb utility poles
- Ability to lift up to 80lbs to chest level on a continual basis throughout shift
- Ability to operate construction vehicles and cable trailers safely
- Ability to travel within company footprint as needed
- Ability to work overtime as needed; must be available for a normal 40 hour work week plus on call and emergency purposes
